Breaking The Patterns · Ireland

Breaking the Patterns is a Creative Europe programme designed to support emerging artists through international exchange, artistic residencies, mentoring and professional development, connecting creative practitioners from Ireland and Spain.

Anna Payan was selected by the programme's international selection committee as the artist representing Spain in the final exhibition in Ireland.

As part of the programme, Anna first participated in a three-month artistic residency in Seville, Spain, where she developed illustrated works within an international and collaborative environment alongside artists from Ireland and Spain.

Following the residency, her work was selected for the programme's exhibition in Ireland, held at Farmleigh Estate in Dublin. Anna Payan was invited to travel to Ireland to attend the exhibition and present her work in person, with her participation and travel supported by the Breaking the Patterns programme.

The exhibition brought together the artists selected through the programme, showcasing a range of approaches and perspectives around the concept of breaking patterns: questioning established ways of thinking, creating and experiencing the world.

For Anna, the project represented an important step in developing her practice within an international context. Being selected as the sole Spanish artist for the Irish exhibition gave her the opportunity to present her work to a new audience, connect with an international artistic community and experience her practice beyond Spain.
